One of the most common methods for authenticating to a MFP is via an HID card (typically the same card that is used to get into the building).
While the card itself can have multiple values on it, the reader must be programmed to only look for a certain value.
In SETTINGS, the administrator can configure a minimum value for the card- this allows us to standardize the numbers we store for each user so that invalid numbers are not registered.
Encryption
The card minimum length setting also allows StratoQ to integrate with a special firmware available for the Elatec TWN4 reader that encrypts the number from the card and sends a 32 character value to StratoQ. This adds security without sacrificing speed or usability, and is highly recommended.
The value that is read off the card may be something like 1234, but the number sent to StratoQ looks like this:
25B56EBF91971099B312F8C285CF91AA
You must set the Card Minimum length field to 32 in Settings.
