Adding a device to your StratoQ account is pretty straightforward, although you'll most likely need to have access to the device itself as an admin before doing this.
Because StratoQ resides in the cloud, you'll need to get some information from the device so that we can recognize it when it connects to our servers. This information can vary by manufacturer, but generally it includes
- serial number
- model number
- device location and/or description name
- time zone of device
Licensing
StratoQ is licenses on a per-device basis, so you will only be allowed to add as many devices as you have licenses for. If you need to add additional devices you can contact support@stratoq.com for a trial licenses, or you can reach out to your reseller to add a permanent one.
To determine the number of devices you are allowed to connect, and the subscription term, simply log in as a customer admin at app.stratoq.com and you can view this information on the home page.
Device Secrets
Once you've created a device and added all the unique information you can click "create", and you should be brought back to the Devices home page. For each device you'll need to create a unique device secret. This secret will be used when you configure the MFD to point to StratoQ.com. Each type of device will do this differently, so see the relevant "Device Integrations" section of our our KM for more information.
To create a secret just use the "Generate Secret" button in the Devices home page. Each device must have its own secret, and only one secret can be valid at a time for each device. This means that if you generate a new secret for a device that is already pointed to StratoQ, you will need to also update the device itself or the app will not work on the MFD.
note: It is VERY important that these device secrets are not shared or stored anywhere un-secure. Do not email them give them out to non-admins.
Deleting a Device
As an admin you can delete a device whenever you choose. This will free up an available device to be used for another physical MFD in your fleet. Keep in mind that when you delete a device from StratoQ.com the application or URL will not be removed from the actual MFD, you will need to do that manually. Also, when a device is deleted from the StratoQ admin page the device secret is no longer valid.
